The Biggest Blunders Trade N Sell & MyMall Trade N Sell Trade N Sell (“TNS”) in November 2013, my Fantage Photo Album. I am not affiliated with Fantage, its employees, nor any former administrators. (All links in this article open in new tab.) EDT.īefore I kick off this essay, I’d like to draw your attention to the following sources if you are reading this and are unfamiliar with Fantage, or you don’t remember much and need a refresher. Fantage shut down on July 1, 2018, at 12:36 A.M. I joined Fantage in May 2009 and quit in 2015, though I visited a handful of times between 2016-2018 before I returned in late May 2018 to witness the shock of my favorite childhood Flash MMO shutting down within a month. As I am writing this, I am currently a 20-year-old junior in college studying financial accounting. So, with some knowledge of economics, finance, and accounting, speculation, and information about some big factors within the history of problems that lead up to Fantage shutting down, I will explain away the problems leading up to Fantage’s shut down in as much detail as I possibly can.įor anyone wondering who I am, I’m writing to you as a former Fantagian myself. I never once saw a comprehensive in-depth explanation or any official statement written in an online article as to why Fantage had shut down just one single headline from Venturebeat entitled, “ Fantage kids virtual world will shut after 10 years.” The former CEO did not reveal very much as to why it shut down. Occasionally, users in the Discord server would send links to resources including articles, company reviews, screenshots, documents, and videos into the chat. Why did Fantage shut down? Throughout the rest of 2018, I was wondering myself. If not, I understand. Many former Fantagians are probably wondering what exactly lead to Fantage‘s demise in July 2018. If you’d like to follow along on this, I welcome you. I’ll most likely be going through my old outfits in the game, my friend list, and checking out what having premium membership finally feels like. This all being said, you can expect some of my last few posts over the next month and a half. I don’t want Fantage to close down, but I can’t say that I’d play it if it’d stay open. I think it’s all the memories I’ve made, all this blog posts centered to absolutely no one, these friends that I don’t even know the real names of, that makes it hurt. I have probably logged on once in the last 10 months, and that was just to see if my account was still valid. I don’t believe I’ll miss the actual game. I began to interact socially, and forgot about my virtual life. Not only that, but I think I did truly grow out of the game. Without premium membership, it didn’t seem like you could do much with the game. Their attempt to try and make as much money as possible was understandable, but took out the fun for the poor ten year old me. The truth is, Fantage died a long time ago for me. I even starting doing Fantage animations on YouTube to try and become famous. I wanted to be the first to update on the new events and post cool cheats. Considering it will all be over on June 30th, I can’t say it doesn’t make me a little sad. I’ve spent countless hours on this virtual world, buying outfits, playing games, chatting with strangers. I guessed it would only be right for me to say a few words. So I’m sure everyone has at least heard of Fantage closing down.
